Roadside Picnic by Arkady Strugatsky & Boris Strugatsky

Review: 2 / 5

Older sci-fi is hit or miss for me, this one was mostly a miss. The premise — aliens landed on Earth briefly and then disappeared, leaving behind a bunch of deadly, possibly valuable stuff for stalkers to scavange — is weird and spooky enough to be really interesting, but the prose was a struggle and the execution left me skimming ahead waiting for something that I cared about to happen. Chalk this one up as not for me, but probably fine if you’re into old Soviet sci-fi.
